The Company
Icon Tees is based out of Downtown Jersey
City, New Jersey. It is the brainchild of
two friends, each with a keen
entrepreneurial spirit and an insatiable
desire to breathe life into one of the
oldest and most common garments known to
man…the
Tee Shirt. Not only are they making a
fashion statement but they are giving people
a way to make a statement about what they
like, who they like, what they stand for, or
what kind of mood they are in on any given
day.
Although there are a lot of

and a lot of online retailers, the guys at
Icon Tees feel that they have created a
truly unique shopping experience by crafting
one of the most original, eye catching yet
simple, trendy yet timeless line of shirts
on the planet…and an awesome website to
deliver their products to you.
Icon Defined
The English word Icon comes from the ancient
Greek word, eikon derived from eikenai,
which means to resemble or to be like. The
first uses of the word icon were religious
in nature, referring to conventional
religious images. Over time, the word
evolved to include references to people or
things, and in most modern times has even
been used to refer to a graphic symbol on
a computer screen. The definition of icon as
it pertains to Icon Tees is as follows:
Icon (i-kon) noun : An important and
enduring symbol. One who is the object of
great attention and devotion; an idol.
The Icons
Icon Tees has compiled a long list of icons
which it intends to create shirts for. The
list is well rounded with figures whose
prominence ranges from the art world to the
underworld and from biblical times to
present day. This list of icons, which is
ever growing, was carefully developed based
on a number of criteria. Because
classifying one as an icon is somewhat
subjective, the final say as to who makes
the list goes to the guys at Icon Tees. One
thing can be said about any icon on the
list, they need no introduction or
explanation, because their likeness speaks
for itself.
The Designs
All of Icon Tees’ designs are original
pieces of artwork created by some of the top
graphic artists around. The initial concept
and direction for each design is conceived
by the creative director, who is one of the
company’s two founders, and is brought to
fruition by the artist specifically chosen
to complete that piece. Because all of the
designs are original, chances are pretty
good that you will not find someone wearing
a shirt like yours unless it is an Icon Tee.
The Tee Shirts
Icon Tees uses only the best
name brand
blank tee shirts available, some of which
include American Apparel, Fruit of the Loom,
Hanes, Anvil, and Champion. A variety of
brands are used in order to bring you the
broadest selection of styles and colors. As
part of the tee shirt development process,
tens and often twenties of blank tee shirts in various
styles and colors are sampled before the
final 3-way marriage between style, color,
and artwork design is realized. You may not
always find a tee shirt design in the style and color
of your choice, but the creative minds at
Icon Tees feel they have assembled a line
with enough variety so that just about
